A selection of new works for 2018. Slab built vessels, atmospherically decorated with layers of abstract colour to hint at coastal beaches, headlands, waterways and harbours. These still include ammonite, shell and pebble textures to enhance the overall decoration.
This gallery contains a range of porcelain work inspired by the beach, cliff strata, pebbles and ammonites found down the meandering single track lanes of the Coast of England.
I use ammonites, shells, starfish, sand, grasses, seeds and other textures to create pictures in clay. These are delicately washed with underglazes, oxides and vitreous slips to enhance the textures and detailed surface.
I have developed these items into wall plaques, vessels, and other decorative objects.
This gallery contains a range of Porcelain ceramics using light and transparency. I have used porcelain paperclay, rolled thinly to create pieces to be sited in strong daylight. Naural daylight enhances the texture, transparency and delicacy of these porcelain vessels.
I am also showing tealights to be used with candles, ideal for evening time, in the garden and home.
This gallery is a collaboration of recent photography, paintings and ceramics. It is designed to give an insight into the thought process used for developing my work.
Some of the paintings are "Finished Pieces", and some are cut to create micro-paintings to be used as direct inspiration for the printing and markmaking onto the ceramic surface.
I use a variety of texturizing and printing techniques to create these pieces; using my sketchbook drawings and photographs for shape, colour and design.
